Nagpur Smart City Appathon concludes with a grand success

Nagpur Smart City Appathon – A 2 day coding challenge in association with Nagpur Municipal Corporation and powered by Lemon Ideas concluded with a grand success on 2 October 2016. The challenge witnessed a participation of 40 teams which had over 100 creative minds from across the city. The participants collectively spent 5184 man hours.

The event was inaugurated by NMC Commissioner Hon.Shri Shravan Hardikar who also paid a surprise visit in the ending hours of the event to boost the participants who were focused since 48 long hours to make their very own city of Nagpur a smart city in all sectors. Mentors from Persistent Technologies Pvt. Ltd with their timely visits guided the participants to resolve their issues in the challenge.

A credible first level jury which included Mr. Rahul Bagdia, Secretary, Nagpur Smart City Council, Mr. Nitin Gujarathi, Lemon Ideas, Mr. Sanjay Gadge, Global Logic Architect, Mr. Shatanand Pandit, Lemon Ideas, Mr. Satin Katiyar, Katin, Mr. Tamonas Dutta, Persistent Systems and Mr. Abhay Chaudhary, Location Guru played a vital role in evaluating the performance of the participants. An interactive session was held between the jury members and all the teams to know how the youth of the city can bring a change in the identified sectors of improvement within Nagpur.

Final jury members included Mr. Ramnath Sonawane, Addl. Municipal Commissioner, NMC, Mr. Yashavant Kanetkar, Founder, KSIT, Mr. Hakimuddin Ali, MD, Calderys India Refractories Ltd and Mr. Nitin Gujarathi, Lemon Ideas. 10 out of 40 shortlisted teams gave their brief presentations to the Final Jury which showcased their ideas coming to reality in the form of brilliant apps. Addl. Municipal Commissioner Mr. Ramnath Sonawane and Mr. Yashvant Kanetkar shared their views on the challenge and bestowed their best wishes on the success of the event. The prize distribution ceremony was initiated by the floral bouquet welcome of the Final jury members by Mr. Rahul Bagdia, Secretary, NSCC and Director, pManifold Business Solutions followed by a thanking note from Mr. Deepak Menaria, MD, Lemon Ideas. A token of appreciation was presented by Mr. Hakimuddin Ali, MD, Calderys India Refractories to the organizers and volunteers who were on their toes for this event to make it a success.

The first prize of this 48 hours long Nagpur Smart City appathon challenge was bagged by the team AP- 17 Madhav Somani, Pratik Wanjari and Ayush Bante from Vincent Palloti College of Engineering who made a brilliant app on Smart Nagpur (SOS and Tourism). The second prize went to the team AP -36 Kawaldeep Kashyap, Karan Tiwari, Vinit Dhoke, Palloti College of Engineering for Clean City App followed by the third prize to the team AP-07 Amit Pande, Vijay Kaushik, Hemanshu Parolkar and Pankaj Jain from Persistent Systems Pvt Ltd for their app on Citizen Grievance Redressal Solution. The prizes were distributed to all the winners by Mr. Nitin Gujarathi, Lemon Ideas, who were also the Head Jury for this challenge. 4 teams got selected for incubation at Lemon Ideas and a special prize went to Nikita Joshi,Mohini Gupta, Purva Sharma and Makarand Erandolkar the team of Persistent Systems who developed an app on Healthy City .

and Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management the Nagpur Smart City Appathon challenge
became one of a kind creative event of Nagpur. The winners will receive their prizes in Global Nagpur Awards organized on 19 November 2016 at Hotel Radisson Blu and will get an opportunity to enter the national level Appathon which is organized at India Smart Grid Week in January 2017, where prizes at stake are over Rs. 10.5 lakhs.
